Do you have a story to tell? Share your story on Paws For Reaction
This year more than ever, I've been providing an outlet for people in the community to share their stories. I've teamed up with some wonderful and interesting guest bloggers, interviewed experts in their fields, and supported different organizations. I want to keep expanding upon that. That being said, Paws For Reaction is looking for new guest bloggers!
Two for Tuesday: I'm asking you to do these two things on Giving Tuesday to support local wildlife
Giving won't be easy for some people this year. Many Ontario citizens have suffered financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. Non-profits, charities, and organizations that support nature and wildlife have also been greatly impacted by the pandemic. Today is Giving Tuesday, a day when people make donations to support charities that mean a lot to them. I want to go two for Tuesday. I present to you two ways you can support nature and wildlife right here in Ontario that I've donated to for Giving Tuesday. I'm asking my readers who are considering which initiative to support today to consider one (or both) of these Ontario campaigns that need your help.
iAdopt for the Holidays: 'Tis the season to find a forever home
It's that time of year again- the season of giving, and I have an excellent way to give. It's a win-win! iAdopt for the Holidays is sponsored by Petplan pet insurance. This holiday adoption campaign runs now until December 31, 2020, at participating SPCAs, humane societies, and rescue groups across Canada. Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Animal Centre, located in Pembroke, Ontario, services the Renfrew County community where my family is from. Their goal for this holiday campaign is to find loving forever homes for as many animals as possible.

Happy National Dog Day: Ways to celebrate
Hazel and Keira are both super excited for National Dog Day today, August 26. This annual doggy holiday celebrates all dogs, and hopes to raise awareness about the number of dogs looking for homes. There are so many dogs in shelters and rescues across the country looking for a forever home. The folks at the National Dog Day website have a great list of 20 Ways to Celebrate!
One of those ways to celebrate is to hire a photographer to do a shoot with your dog, and since Hazel and Keira live with a professional photographer the rates were really affordable! Here are the highlights from their play time photoshoot! How are you going to celebrate with your dog? Don't forget to tag #NationalDogDay in the photos you post!!
Long Live Pets: Your rescue pet could be a star in a film for Nat Geo
Wild
Best
Friends Animal Society is on a mission to inspire people to change a
shelter pet’s life and to celebrate rescue pets that have already found their
forever home. An estimated 270,000 pets in shelters will be euthanized in March
alone all due to a lack of space- almost 9,000 a day. Because of this growing
epidemic CEO
and co-founder of Best Friends Animal Society Gregory
Castle and veterinarian and former Miss. America Dr. Debbye Turner Bell
have teamed up with Natures Variety Instinct
to create the Long Live Pets campaign. This
effort is to help reduce the number of animal deaths in shelters across the
country and to invite people to enter their rescue pets to be featured in a
film for Nat Geo Wild.

record for this year’s adoption drive.
Blue Buffalo’s Home 4 the

Adoptable of the Week: Eragon
Meet Eragon! Eragon is a courtesy
listing on Petfinder.com from the Friendly Giants Dog Rescue in Ottawa. Eragon
has been waiting a long time for the right forever home. He is a large,
adult nuetered Kuvasz who is very laid back and slow moving for the most part but can also
have fun and be energetic. Eragon comes with special needs but with a patient
and dedicated owner he would be a great pet. Eragon suffers from seasonal
allergies- like many dogs with white fur. He takes Evening Primrose every day
to try to prevent the urge to lick and chew his paws. Eragon is a true Kuvasz
to the core and would be best suited with a dominant owner who has experience
with large breed working dogs. Kuvasz are bred to guard their flock or home and
Eragon- like most Kuvasz- guards all sorts of things. Because of this he is not
suited for a home with young children and would flourish on a farm in a fenced in
area where he can guard his family. Eragon enjoys being groomed and doesn’t resist
when having his nails trimmed. He has an independent nature but still enjoys
affection and positive reinforcement training is a must with this dog. Eragon
needs the right person to take a chance on him and give him the structure and
care he so desperately desires.
Adoptable of the Week: Luke
Meet Luke! Luke is a beautiful, young Russian
blue mix. He is believed to be around 7 months old. This adorable boy not only
has good looks but he is sweet, snuggly and irresistibly charming. He would do
best with an owner that loves giving affection and cuddling the days away. He
even likes giving kisses! Luke needs a stable home where he can spend time
indoors with his family. If you are interested in learning more about Luke

Viva Photo via Petfinder.com |
Adoptable of the Week: Viva
Meet Viva! Viva is a beautiful senior Pointer who is in need of a
second chance from a calm and loving family. This gentle, nine year old girl
spent the majority of her life living in a crate. She had little contact with
people and no idea what a structured family life could be like. Fortunately
Viva was given a second chance when she was rescued by New Beginnings Pet Rescue in Ottawa, Ontario. Viva is now discovering the joy that humans can bring
to her life and is enjoying basic obedience training, hikes and this new found
affection. Although she is still timid- a result of her previous upbringing-
Viva wants to be loved and to share her love with people. She needs a pet
parent that is patient and gentle- someone to help her build back her
confidence and allow her to be a dog. Viva is frightened by loud noises but
tolerates the sounds of children playing. Due to her aversion of loud noises
Viva would be happiest away from big, booming cities and noisy traffic. She
needs a calm family who can mirror her energy level. The ideal happy ending for
Viva would be a senior couple who live in the country and would take her on
long hikes until she was tired and ready to go to sleep beside the fireplace.
Viva is fixed and vaccinated and gets along with cats and calmer dogs. If you are interested in learning more about Viva fill
out an application through New Beginnings Pet Rescue. Click here to view Viva’s page on Petfinder.com
