Canadian's give thanks: Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, especially those who are isolated this year
I hope you all had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! The pandemic has made it difficult for families to get together this weekend. I know how isolating it can be living alone and not being able to visit family. Virtual visits and phone calls just aren't the same. I missed the hugs, the homecooked meal, and the playtime with my nephew. To all of you who are alone this holiday season, I want to send you my love. It's tough but we will get through this. Hold your pets and cherish the moments that you have with the people you love. Find ways to visit from afar. But most of all, stay safe.
Hazel says Happy Furrrriday!
I don't know about you, but Hazel and I have had a long week. We're excited to break for the weekend. Happy Furrrriday Paws peeps! Stay safe and stay paw-sitive!
Product Review: Dish Towels by Robbie Craig's Northern Projects
I've been a big fan of Robbie Craig's artwork since I first discovered his nature-inspired creations on Facebook a few years ago. Craig's artwork is "inspired by the untouched and rugged landscape of Canada’s north and captures the essence of Canada's beauty in his own unique style." Craig, located in the Northwest Territories, creates wildlife and landscape artwork with a very distinct Canadian style. I love his use of lines and colour, and how he captures the spirit of the animals he brings to life in his work. He doesn't just create his art to hang on the wall, he also has other products available with his personal Canuck touch.
Give
your food a hug: Food Huggers help reduce waste and keep food
fresh
I’m always looking for ways to reduce my waste. One thing I
absolutely hate is plastic wrap and plastic baggies. Cling wrap is not
recyclable and doesn’t keep food fresh. Since I go through a lot of produce it
was important that I find an eco-friendly alternative to cling wrap and bags
that was not one-time use, and would keep my fruit and vegetables their freshest.

Most of us don’t think about how to prepare ourselves for a natural disaster,
let alone our pets. After the recent mass flooding event in the Ottawa Valley,
it’s clear that disasters can happen close to home. Instead of having the
mentality that ‘this can’t happen to me,’ most Ontario and Quebec residents
have been faced with the reality that disaster can hit close to home.

How to dog proof your backyard this summer

To your dog, the backyard is like a safe space, the canine
equivalent of his bedroom. It is a place to play, relax and feel at home, and
is not often associated with danger. Sadly, many dogs have ended up in the
emergency room, falling victim to something that was in their own backyard.
That is why it is so important to dog proof the backyard using these tips!
